Google Introduces New Handwriting Input App for Android

Google has released a new app called Google Handwriting Input, which allows users to write text on their Android devices as an additional input method for any Android app. As the name suggests, the app let users input text by writing onto the device’s screen. Google Handwriting Input also supports emojis so you can just draw an emoji and it will get displayed on the screen.

This input tool recognizes 82 languages and 20 distinct scripts, and works with both printed and cursive writing input, even without a stylus. Furthermore, there is also an option to choose from local or cloud-based handwriting recognition. Google recommended the latter as it more accurate, but it requires an internet connection.
It should be noted that Google Handwriting Input is not the tech giant’s first attempt at developing handwriting recognition software. Google had already featured handwriting recognition in the Google Translate app, as well as on its mobile search and via the Google Input Tool. However, it’s the first time Google provides support for its handwriting tools to all of the Android mobile operating system.
Google Handwriting Input works on any device running Android 4.0.3 or higher, and the app isnow available on the Google Play Store.
