After introducing the voice calling feature earlier this year, WhatsApp is now working on adding video calling support to its messaging service, a new report suggests.
According to a report published in Macerkopf.de, the latest private beta versions of WhatsApp for iOS have video calling support built-in. The iOS users would be the first to receive the feature, with Android users to follow later. The German tech blog posted screenshots from WhatsApp v2.12.16.2, which is currently being tested internally.
The leaked screenshots show that the interface of WhatsApp video call seemingly being tested for launch in an upcoming app update. According to the website, users will be able to mute the microphone as well as switch between cameras. Also, the small preview that shows your video can be moved around freely. The video calling feature on WhatsApp will work over both Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
Apart from video calling, WhatsApp is also adding multiple chat tabs that allow users to quickly switch between different conversations without having to go back to the WhatsApp chats list. Additionally, the new update will also sport a new design with a greater focus on the green color.
Although no official confirmation has been revealed yet, there is much speculation of the new feature being released in the next update.
